The Battle for Broken Cart Part I The Broken Cart Travelling Stock Route is a minor roadway track that has been in use since Whiteman first entered the high country.  This track/ minor road now absorbed via devious means into the realm of the NPWS, has been renamed the Broken cart fire trail. Historically, this track came into existence when in the1800s; a high country drover summering his cattle on the Snowy Plains became caught in a sudden shift in the weather.  The situation for both the cattle and the drovers at that time was becoming perilous.  To the Drover's aid came the local Aboriginals and they led the drovers and their charges to the low country via this route.  Ever since, this route has been used consistently, every single year, to this day. In the days that grazing was the norm, this trail was not just a dirt roadway of dubious quality as it is today, but rather an open forested, native grass route though pristine sub-alpine terrain.  A route that was originally only known and maintained via natural and Aboriginal management.  From the Aboriginal local's management process, to the high country settlers stewardship of the same terrain, it stayed almost exactly as it had been for centuries. Today, cattle have been excluded from the Snowy Mountains by the ever-powerful green lobby sect, infiltrating, coercing politicians and bureaucracies and lying to the public.  This has resulted in the absolute disregard of all that history can tell.  The NPWS, quite categorically state in their Kosciuszko Management Plan 2006, that anecdotal information will be ignored and only scientific documentation will rule.  How easy it is for unfettered power to change history and hence achieve absolute control of this nation's icon.  The KMP 2006 is a 400 plus page document that they are obliged to release, but dearly wish no one to read.  But read it we have, cover to cover. Broken Cart TSR was absorbed into the KNP under the control of the NPWS and gazetted as such 5th June 1981, page 711.  "All those pieces or parcels of land containing a total of 15, 764 hectares, being the reserves for travelling stock camping and water supplies under Pasture Protection Board control lying within the external boundaries of KNP……..   In other words, the very body that was responsible to the rural folk, without so much as a by your leave, set in place the destruction of not only the most poignant reminder of cultural living history this Snowy Mountains can provide, but set in place the form work for the discontinuance of a family business practise that has been ongoing twice a year, every single year the Webb family have been in the cattle industry. This arrogant, scientifically flawed restriction to the Webb's historical cattle drive, will not only see more heavy trucks travel the Alpine highway at huge unnecessary cost, will not only deny our grasslands, albeit, very short grazing, but steal from the entire Australian public so inclined, the very opportunity to view with their own eyes the magnificent spectacle of living mountain history.  A history that the KNP MP 2006 is supposed to preserve. SOS-NEWS is committed to bring Australian people this story, for this is an act of pure hypocrisy by the NPWS.  They state quite clearly within pages and pages of the KNP MP 2006 that they wish to document the past historical issues and preserve and maintain all for the pleasures of the people.  4X4 Damage to tracks 50 metres away the results of 300units of Cattle after 24hr spell. They bend over backwards to allow the commercial use of the Snowy Mountains for big interests and powers that cause damage beyond control.  Yet humans, visiting transient humans, are responsible for more damage to the KNP than 300 units of cattle have done in a century. People, the Webb family have been given 2 years ( By Minister Bob Debus) from the date of the KNP MP 2006 commencement, this being the 14th June 2006, and after this date ( 14th June 2008) they will no longer be issued with a license to drive their stock on a route that was specifically made and maintained for that very purpose of travelling stock.  In the Webb's case, they have annually driven their stock via this route from Adelong near Tumut to their high country property near Adaminaby for summer pasture grazing and back before winter sets in.  They do not get this license free as they should do, but have to pay the NPWS a handsome fee for a right that should never have been stolen from them and indirectly us in the first place. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 READERS IN COUNCIL Antithesis to 'clean and green' By ANTHONY OPIE Motueka, New Zealand I read a letter recently from a person in Australia to The Japan Times that discussed the horror of using "1080" (sodium mono fluoroacetate) to kill wild animals. What people in Japan may not know is that New Zealand spends up to NZ$ 50 million a year distributing this toxic chemical over pristine forests throughout the country. Most of it is distributed aerially by helicopter over huge areas of conservation land, national parks and farmland. A great many of the drops are over streams and waterways. This chemical, developed in Belgium in 1896, is colourless, tasteless, odourless and kills in a very inhumane way. It can take up to 40 hours for an animal to die. The New Zealand government promotes the use of 1080 to kill mainly possums, which, it suggests, carry bovine tuberculosis. They think these animals could infect cattle. In Britain, such dangerous methods of control are not even considered; yet an indigenous animal there that carries bovine tuberculosis, the badger, is protected. The massive kills that take place in New Zealand destroy wild pigs, deer, goats, rabbits, indigenous birds, domestic dogs and cats, and it has even been suggested by a scientist that trees are beginning to take up 1080 ground residues. It is thought that 1080 residues are finding their way into food products, and recently a large quantity of milk was destroyed as it was found to be contaminated with 1080. I understand that some food products from New Zealand have been rejected by Japan in the past due to 1080 contamination. There is massive exposure to toxic chemicals in this country. The only farms in New Zealand that are "clean and green" are those certified as organic. Below is the concerned report out of Eden news Thursday, 7 September 2006 The Member for Bega Andrew Constance has accused the State Government of deceit following failure by the Labor Member for Monaro Steve Whan to rule out the creation of the Eden Marine Park before or after the 2007 State election. "The Environment Minister Bob Debus a couple of months ago claimed on Sydney radio that it was ALP policy at the 2003 election to create the 85,000 hectare Batemans Marine Park, yet neither he nor the then local Labor candidate announced it to the community during that 2003 election campaign," he said. "The fact is that history is repeating itself and it's Labor policy to create the Eden Marine Park after the 2007 election. They were deceitful then and they are deceitful now," Mr Constance said. "Steve Whan let it slip when asked whether he would rule out an Eden Marine Park before or after the next State election. He stated on ABC radio: 'I am not going to categorically say there will never be any reserving in the Eden area.' "The State Government's form on the marine park issue is one of deceit and lies. "They have failed to consult and are now scrambling to play down this issue in the lead up to the next State election," Mr Constance said. "Steve Whan has articulated what the Government's thinking is on the Eden Marine Park. "The Labor Government will argue the need for an additional park from Bermagui to the Victorian border on the basis of increased fishing effort in the bio-shelf due to the closures in the 85,000 hectare Batemans Marine Park," Mr Constance said. He said speculation had been mounting about a Marine Park south of Bermagui since Minister Debus met with local government officials from the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley shires earlier in the year. "I am organising a community meeting to discuss this issue at the Eden Fishermen's Club on September 13 at 6pm," Mr Constance said. "I have invited the chair of the Coastal Rights Association Jack Tait as well as Dr Philip Creagh from the Narooma Ports Committee to the meeting so that they can share their experience of the Batemans Marine Park process with the local community of Eden," Mr Constance said.

Radical Greenies Profile Bob [James] Brown Green Party Leader A former medical practitioner, was Director of the Wilderness Society which organised the blockade of the dam-works on Tasmania's' wild Franklin River in 1982/3. 1500 people were arrested and 600 jailed - including Bob Brown who spent 19 days in Risdon Prison. On the day of his release, he was elected as the first Green into Tasmania's Parliament. The value of environment preservation on rural land was maintained by the farmers for over 100 years and it has taken just a decade of Radical Green stupidity, fronted by Mr Brown to decimate the Snowy Mountain wildlife, fauna and the wonderful forest trees. Their lock it up radical green policies and government mismanagement with massive fuel loads saw the 2003 bushfire destroy a real national heritage that will never recover. What sound does a tree make when it is chopped down? ... de joooong In a communist society, we note that the whilst the proletariat (workers and general folk) suffer draconian rules and laws, the hierarchy of the false gods live of the fat off the land.  Well the below story epitomises the Greens for what they are.  Dangerous, double standard excuses for the same under another name- and they want our vote. Article from the Sunday Sun Herald Melbourne A GREENS state election candidate is under fire for chopping down wattle trees on one of his properties. Geoff de Jonge -- contesting Gippsland East for the party often dubbed the "tree-huggers" -- has admitted he is a tree-lopper.   Mr de Jonge said he was "as green as green can be" and had done nothing wrong because the trees were dead.   But angry residents in the area yesterday accused Mr de Jonge -- a well-known environment campaigner -- of being a hypocrite.   Mr de Jonge initially denied chopping any trees down when approached by the Sunday Herald Sun, but then admitted he had felled three wattle trees on a subdivision he bought in Newlands Arm because they were dead and they were in the way.   "The block had three dead wattles," he said.   "We cut them down. They were right in the area where a house would eventually be built.   "You don't need a permit to cut a dead tree down."   Mr de Jonge said he had since planted about 40 trees on the 1160sq m Lake Shore Drive plot, which he bought in 2002 as an investment, although not intending to develop it himself.   He said he had not cut down trees on any of eight other properties he owned. He and his partner had planted hundreds of trees in the area.   But one resident in the area, who did not want to be named, accused Mr de Jonge of double standards.   "He goes around preaching to everyone about how important it is to save trees, planting them everywhere, blocking people's views, then he chops his own down," the unhappy resident said.

A state government spokesman said if wattle trees were dead a permit would not be required to chop them down, but if it was found they were alive the resident could be fined.   The Greens hope to win the balance of power in Victoria's Upper House Brumbyy (with2Y,s) NSW Petition To Government "Do Not Lock Up Our Land" Dr Jon Jenkins MLC an independent has proposed a petition that request the Legislative Council refuses to support any legislation which erodes the fundamental rights for public land and water to be enjoyed by the people. We further request that the Legislative Council takes all steps to reverse existing legislation which so erodes those rights. SOS-NEWS is not politically aligned, however this move by Jon Jenkins is a positive one for the people and one that we support.
