Tourist Attraction??
November 20th, 2007 at 11:18 am by admin in General NewsOne of the arguments used regularly in support of the creation of marine parks is that they attract visitors to the area and that in time Batemans Marine Park will be seen as an asset to the area. Personally I believe this argument is full of holes. One long time asset of the area with a proven record of attracting visitors is the break-wall at the mouth of the Moruya River.
Unfortunately this great asset, tourist attraction and favorite fishing spot is also full of holes and in need of some TLC. Click the photo above to see the current state of this once great attraction, and add your thoughts on how this should be allowed to happen.

Of those pictured above (left to right) the Premier, ex-minister for environment Bob Debus and Minister Macdonald were in charge of creating Batemans Marine Park, and between them must share the blame for misleading not only to the public of New South Wales but also to the Governor.
Misleading to Parliament can have you sacked I wonder what misleading the Governor will bring.
The next two current Minister for the environment Phil Koperberg and minister assisting the minister Verity Firth were not even elected during the creation of this mess so can't be held accountable for what others have done.
But judging by their actions so far, Minister for environment missing in action Not One Word on the subject since taking office, and his assistant offering no assistance to the public on the matter. It would seem they are prepared to go along for the ride.
Be careful folks! I have a feeling it may be all down hill from here.
Don't worry Ministers. There may still be time to redeem yourselves, so incase you missed what the Member for Bega had to say in the house, copies of the speech and all relevant documents are on their way to you now, as well as copies to the Governor and major media outlets.
I suggest you pay particular attention to the call at the end.
